Emergency Dentist in Kanata: What to Do When You Break a Tooth

Dental emergencies rarely happen when it’s convenient. They happen during a family dinner, a Sens game, or right before a big presentation at work. When pain strikes, panic often follows. Knowing what to do in the first hour can save your tooth and your peace of mind.

Is it a True Emergency?

Not every twinge requires an immediate run to our office on Kakulu Road, but these situations do:

  • Knocked-Out Tooth: Time is the enemy here. Keep the tooth moist (in milk or your cheek) and get to an emergency dentist within an hour.
  • Severe Swelling: If your face is swollen, this could indicate a serious infection that needs immediate antibiotics.
  • Unbearable Pain: If over-the-counter medication doesn't touch the pain, it may be a sign of an abscess or nerve damage requiring root canal therapy.

What If It’s Just a Chip?

If you chip a tooth but aren't in pain, it’s urgent but not a crisis. You can usually wait a day or two. However, the jagged edge can cut your tongue, so covering it with sugar-free gum can be a temporary fix until we can perform a cosmetic bonding repair.

We Are Local and Ready

Located right off Castlefrank, we are easily accessible for anyone in Kanata North or South. We reserve time in our schedule specifically for these unexpected moments because we believe no one should have to suffer through tooth pain.

In pain right now? Don’t wait it out. Contact our emergency dental team immediately for guidance.
